Blake Clawson – Composer

OF MUSIC AND MOURNING:

Acceptance

Of Music and Mourning, commissioned and premiered by Daniel J. Cosio, is a five-movement cycle for based on the Kübler-Ross five stages of grief. The five movements were composed by five CU Boulder student composers, each corresponding to one stage of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Each movement is written for a different member of the trombone family (soprano, alto, tenor, bass, and contrabass). The fifth and final movement, Acceptance, was written by Blake for contrabass trombone and piano.

In the video above, Acceptance begins at 1:26:35 and the Of Music and Mourning cycle begins at 1:03:05.
